About: Seven Star Crags and Dinghu Mountain Tourist Resort is located in Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. It comprises two tourist resorts, namely Seven Star Crags and Dinghu Mountain, and covers a total area of 20.61 km². To its north is Beiling Mountain, to its south is Xijiang River and 100 km to its east is Guangzhou City. It’s within easy reach either by car or by water. It is among the first batch of National Scenic Spots and national AAAA tourist attractions. It is also one of the top ten national demonstration sites of Civilized Scenic Spot and a national center of excellence for ISO14000. 1. Seven Star Crags tourist resort is situated in the north of Zhaoqing City. The main attractions are seven limestone mountains standing on several interconnected lakes. It covers a sprawling expanse of 9.28 km². The average water level of the lakes is 5-5.5 m while the highest and lowest are 6 m and 3 m respectively. The lake water mainly comes from rainfalls gathered by the Beiling Mountain and then the rainfalls on the lakes. With the shield of Beiling Mountain, the resort is warm and frostless all year round. 2. Dinghu Lake is situated in Dinghu District in Zhaoqing with Xijiang River in the south and the Seven Star Crags 18 km away. It is near the North Tropic of Cancer at 23°8ˊ north latitude and 112°35ˊ east longitude. The surrounding landform is hilly terrain. The main peak Jilong Mountain stands at 1,000.3 m high while Sanbao Peak is the watershed between Yunxi Stream and Tianxi Stream. According to historical records, there is a lake on the top of mountain all year round, therefore it is called Dinghu (meaning lake on the top of the mountain). Later, the character “Ding” was changed into another Chinese character with the same pronunciation in Cantonese but a different meaning—an ancient cooking vessel. Dinghu Mountain is the tallest among all the mountains in the county. Surrounded by rolling hills, Dinghu Mountain resembles a lotus, therefore it is also called Lotus Peak.
