Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 2 is scheduled to officially open this Thursday (April 26), and the metro station, Airport North, the terminus of the northern extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 3, will start a trial operation in conjunction with T2 on the same day.
Here is all the information you need to know about the soon to be opened Airport North metro station.
There are two exits at the Airport North Station, Exit A to the Airport Traffic Hub, while Exit B to the Terminal 2.
From Airport North towards Tiyu Xilu, the first train starts at 6:00 am, and the last 11:15 pm.
At the station platform, there are nursery rooms, men’s and women’s washrooms, as well as barrier-free washrooms.
At the station hall, there are electronic guidance systems, self-service customer centers, cloud-based ticket machines, cloud gate machines, wide gate machines and shared umbrellas. All ticket vending machines are equipped with code scanning payment function.
The station is decorated with special art walls, welcoming guests with blooming kapoks, the city flower of Guangzhou, traditional Lingnan architectures, and greetings in different languages.
If you are taking the metro to Baiyun Airport, attention please:
Airport South Station → Baiyun Airport Terminal 1
Airport North Station → Baiyun Airport Terminal 2
Call your airline to confirm your flight gate and terminal. Then choose the right metro station to get to the right terminal for checking in. Upon arrival, double-check display boards to ensure that there have been no changes.
Four airlines have moved to T2, they are Xiamen Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kenya Airways, and Garuda Indonesia. Passengers who have purchased tickets for April 26 and after from these airlines should go to T2 for checking in.
Another 12 airlines will be moving to T2 on May 19, they are China Southern Airlines, Hebei Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Chongqing Airlines, Aeroflot, Air France, China Airlines, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Vietnam Airlines.
Guangzhou Metro will highlight the guidance via the electronic guidance systems, metro map, metro TV, train-borne broadcasting and brochures. There are also “one-stop comprehensive service centers” at both Airport South and North metro stations, providing passengers with Chinese-English consultation service.
What if you still go to the wrong terminal?
You can shuttle between T1 and T2 by metro and shuttle bus for free.
With valid flight information, passengers can travel between T1 and T2 through Airport North and Airport South metro stations for free.
You can also take the T1-T2 Shuttle Bus for free at Gate 10 of the Departures at T1 or Gate 42 of the Departures at T2. The Shuttle Bus runs around the clock with a minimum interval of five minutes and a maximum interval of 15 minutes.
