Design exhibitions

Two design-themed exhibitions, “Minding the Digital” (until June 3) and “Values of Design” (until Aug. 4, 2019), are being held in Shekou. Drawing from the V&A’s extensive collection in London, “Values of Design” features over 250 objects from year 900 to the present. “Minding the Digital” brings visitors into a novel world of immersive experiences shaped by digital technologies.

Art and technology

At “The Ecstasy of Time: Reshaping the Medium of Knowing” exhibition, 11 artists rethink the interfaces we use to understand the way technology alters our perceptions of nature while also highlighting its effect on the social, ethical and cultural dimensions of our society.

New media art

International artists are exhibiting their videos, installations and graphics at the exhibition “The Imagined Future Is Not the Future.”

UABB in Nanshan

The 2017 Bi-City Biennale of UrbanismArchitecture (UABB) includes an exhibition that fuses architecture, art and design. The UABB represents a call for the development of a diverse, inclusive and vigorous urban ecosystem that not only shows reverence to humanity and history, but also promotes the coexistence of urban culture, society and public spaces.

Mysterious Dunhuang”

“Mysterious Dunhuang,” an immersive and informative exhibition featuring ancient Dunhuang Mogao cave art in Gansu Province, is being held at OCT Harbor. The Dunhuang Academy set up seven life-sized Mogao caves with mural reproductions all over the walls and ceilings.

SZ Museum exhibitions

More than 100 ancient wood, porcelain and copper-gilt Guanyin statues and paintings on loan from Capital Museum in Beijing are on display until Feb. 28. Another exhibition of ancient Italian ceramics is being held until March 25. The ceramics are on loan from the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza.

Kan Tai-keung’s works

Hong Kong designer Kan Tai-keung is exhibiting his ink paintings and calligraphic works. He is one of Hong Kong’s most famous graphic designers and notable ink painters.
