Space Time·You and Me / Ink and Color on Silk 103x34cm 2017
The brush-and-ink of Chinese painting is an important language resulting from long-term accumulation. As the distinguishing feature of Chinese painting, the brush-and-ink has extraordinary aesthetic values and unique significance. However, if a painter becomes brush-and-ink-centric, he will be constrained by it and will not be able to freely express his or her own true feelings.
The Lonely Moon / Ink and Color on Paper 76x40cm 2017
When it comes to the relations between the brush-and-ink and the artistic creation, Wang Ye emphasizes the unique value of “a particular scene at a particular moment”, which finds its perfect expression in her “Rain Forest” series. She conveys the richness of the rainforest by selecting, concluding, reorganizing and simplifying the objects seen in the luxuriant rain forest, and she coordinates the demand of paintings and the colors by combining the color-application patterns of traditional Chinese paintings with the coloring habit of traditional murals while absorbing techniques of print-making.
Love Means / Ink and Color on Paper 31x40cm 2017
Apart from the basis of traditional coloring techniques, i.e. ink-and-water-coloring, flat-coloring and large-scale-coloring, she uses large color blocks to create pictorial impacts. Building on the extraordinary wealth of tradition in Chinese bird-and-flower painting, Wang Ye constantly explores ways to convey emotions, associations and philosophies through paintings of natural existence which is transformed from natural phenomena that can only whisper their connotation into innovative and impressive visual pleasure. It is in this sense that Wang Ye’s success is beyond doubt.
