Chinese pianist and composer Xue Tingzhe, also known as Xue Xiaoqiu, will present a night of classical music at the Shenzhen Concert Hall in August. The program will mostly be pieces composed by Xue, as well as some compositions by Bach, Mozart and Piazzolla.
From 1996 to 1998, Xue studied under piano teacher Osumi Emi at Musashi University in Japan. During this period, he won the first prize at the Tokyo Children’s Piano Competition and later won many prizes at multiple Japanese piano competitions. He later enrolled at Shenzhen Arts School at age 12 and learned under the famous piano educator Dan Zhaoyi.
In 2006, he obtained the first prize in the youth group of the Third Isidor Bajic International Piano Competition in Serbia and then went on 12 concert tours commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Mozart at the invitation of CEI Youth Orchestra.
In 2010, he signed with Universal Music China and released his first piano performance album “The Magic Finger,” which was met with resounding success in China and became a platinum record. The album was honored as best piano performance album of the year.
In 2011, he released his own first album of original neo-classical music entitled “Silent Music” and took charge of everything ranging from composition and arrangement to piano performances for the whole album. The album won high plaudits on the market from listeners and was rated as the best classical music album of the year by the China Musicians’ Association.
At present, Xue is an active musician as a pianist and composer. His music has won the support of senior musicians.
