The first Indonesian coffee shop opened in Shenzhen

Excelso Coffee, the first authentic Indonesian coffee shop had its grand opening on 3rd July 2016 in Shenzhen. Located at No. 127 KKONE, Futian District, it became the first flagship shop in China.

Ratu Silvy Gayatri, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Guangzhou, attended the grand opening and graced the event.

In the opening remark, the Consul General expressed her pride that Excelso has finally come to China, a country that has an age-old tea drinking tradition. According to Silvy, it is a good decision as Shenzhen is a multinational city and is among the top mainland cities for economic returns. In terms of economic power, Shenzhen is listed as the fourth (after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou).  She hoped that this will also benefit Indonesia and will increase more tourists coming to Indonesia, especially those wishing to experience more about Indonesian food.

Indonesia is one of the world biggest coffee producers and is listed as the third biggest coffee provider to China, after Vietnam and Malaysia. In 2015, Indonesia’s export to China was more than US$ 28 million. She believes that the opening of the Excelso Coffee shop will be able to boost Indonesia’s export very soon.
