Exhibition held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birth


This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a revered revolutionary leader who played a pivotal role in overthrowing imperial rule in China. 

A special exhibition about Sun Yat-sen and his Japanese friend is being held at the Memorial Museum of Generalissimo Sun Yat-sen's Mansion in Guangzhou. This exhibition raised the curtain on a series of events at the Memorial Museum to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. 

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on March 11. And the exhibition will last until April 1, 2016. Dozens of important historical pictures are being exhibited, including letters between Sun and his Japanese friend, books about Sun, and kimono with Sun’s autograph.


According to Xinhua reports, Nov. 12, 2016 is the 150th birthday of Sun, “a great national hero, patriot and the front-runner of China’s democratic revolution,” said a statement released after the plenary meeting of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee.
