In some places of Mao Ming, there are many taboos on this day, such as to eat vegetables only, keep the jars full of water, do not throw away rubbish, do not quarrel, do not break wares and etc.
During the Spring Festival, activities like sacrifice, temple fair, feast and etc. are held in different places. Among them, lion dancing is the most popular one. The lion dance groups perform in different villages to wish a happy New Year. In cities, the groups beat drums and struck gongs in front of some shops and firms. It is a blessing for prosperity.
